… works for Scotland’s Towns … • Towns have the same challenges as cities – just at smaller scale • Individual towns may struggle to justify the cost of “smart city” initiatives • The answer then is to deliver these solutions at scale, across multiple towns with similar characteristics and that face similar challenges. • STP’s model shows that: • Kirkcaldy is grouped with Bonnyrigg, Musselburgh, Barrhead, Largs, Gourock, Stenhousemuir, Glenrothes, Penicuik, Cambuslang, Tranent, Rosyth, Armadale • Peterhead is grouped with Dumfries, Falkirk, Forfar, Galashiels, Elgin, Dunfermline, Inverness, Stirling, Inverurie • Greenock is grouped with Saltcoats, Arbroath, Coatbridge, Motherwell, Alloa, Whitburn, Cowdenbeath, Buckhaven, Methilhill, Leven, Johnstone, Clydebank • What are these challenges and how do we address them? • BT’s proposal is to work with Scotland’s towns, through STP, to identify specific challenges shared across multiple towns, and to pilot the delivery of smart solutions at scale
