Captured My group’s opening scene is filled with action, suspense, and mystery. We made

Captured My group’s opening scene is filled with action, suspense, and mystery. We made this come across through the use of a variety of conventions. Throughout our film we used high key and low key lighting. In the beginning of our opening scene the lighting is quite dark. There a series of short clips that show the girl trying to escape. By using low key lighting it added to the mystery and suspense. Not knowing what will come or happen next. The darkness allows for just enough of the girl’s surrounding to be revealed, but not too much. The low key lighting used is similar to that of “The Bourne Ultimatum”. When Jason Bourne is trying to run away low key lighting is used. This created a sense of suspense as well, because it makes the viewer uncertain of what is going on exactly. v As the film goes on we used high key lighting. Starting with the scene that says “The Morning Of” until the girl gets to the forest. The use of brighter lighting allows the viewer to see that the scenery has changed. It also shows how there is nothing that is out of the ordinary. The girl is normal and happy, which makes the viewer wonder how she was kidnapped. v

Captured In my groups opening scene we used a montage in the beginning. It

Captured In my groups opening scene we used a montage in the beginning. It is a series of short clips that shows the girl trying to escape, from the basement of the kidnapper. By using a montage it allowed the viewer to Get an idea of the setting. Also it shows what is happening faster, rather than having a drawn out scene of her breaking out. The montage emphasizes each individual clip, making the actions more intense. The use of our montage is also similar to the one in “Gone Girl”. This Montage is just a series of random clips. The purpose of it is to establish the setting. v The score used in my group’s opening scene helped in creating a sense of mystery and tension. When our film began intense music instantly started playing. The music got loud then silent then loud again, and so on. The score helped in making each clip more dramatic. The intensity of the music created the suspense as well. Every time the music got silent it makes the viewer anxious as to what is going to happen next. The score used in the forest scene creates a sense of mystery. The music has an eerie feeling to it. It has sharp sounds in certain moments. The score makes the viewer suspicious as to what will happen. v

Captured v My group’s film represents the issue of kidnapping/safety of teens. In our

Captured v My group’s film represents the issue of kidnapping/safety of teens. In our film, a girl is kidnapped by a stalker. This occurs when she is on her way to a friend’s house, but then gets lost. She ends up in a forest, with no service, and she is isolated. Kidnaps mostly occur when a teenager is seen alone. They are helpless and there is no one close by to help them. Kidnappers attack teens because they are young, therefore easier to manipulate. When the girl, in my group’s film, gets kidnapped it is because she is alone and lost. Many teenagers go out by themselves to go meet up with friends, or something of the sort. They do not really take every safety precaution when traveling alone. In the opening scene the girl is meeting up with a friend and has to take a path that is very isolated. She ends up getting kidnapped and there is no one that can help her. Teens have issues with observing their surroundings. Assuring that there is nothing or no one that can pose a threat.

Captured My group’s target audience, for our film “Captured”, is teens. This is because

Captured My group’s target audience, for our film “Captured”, is teens. This is because our film is filled with action, suspense, and mystery. All things that capture the attention of a teenager. They are interested in things that they can relate to. In my group’s opening scene a girl gets kidnapped on her way to a friends house. It happened while she was isolated and lost. This can be found to be relatable to teens. This is because they are always out and about going to hang out with friends. Whether its at their house or the movies. Teens can easily lose their way just like the girl in our film. v Teenagers are also my group’s target audience because they like films that are action filled. Also films that instantly grab their attention, rather than the action starting mid movie. My group’s opening scene starts with a girl trying to break out of her kidnapper’s house. This starts to make the viewer wonder why she is there, where is she, and how she got there. All questions that can only be answered if the viewer continues to watch the movie. v

Captured My group’s film would be distributed in the movie theaters. This way our

Captured My group’s film would be distributed in the movie theaters. This way our film would be more popular and get more views. It would also be distributed in movie theaters because it would sell better that way. Our target audience, of teenagers, are constantly going to the movie theaters, so it would be the perfect way to reach them. Also our target audience of teens are interested in action, suspense, and mystery type films. This is perfect because that is exactly what my group’s film is, therefore making them more anxious to watch it. This will bring many teenagers to the movie theater. v Another way that my group’s film would be distributed is through Netflix is very popular amongst teenagers. It is filled with a variety of movies and TV shows with multiple genres. This is why so many teenagers like to watch their favorite films and shows on it. If our film were to be distributed on Netflix, it would gain many views because of all the Netflix users. v

Captured Throughout the making of this project my editing and filming skills got better.

Captured Throughout the making of this project my editing and filming skills got better. I got better at using different shot types. For example, the high angle/ POV shot of the girl running. This allows the viewer to see that the kidnapper is watching her. Also I learned how to do new things in editing. My group was able to add text into a scene. When the scene, of before the girl is kidnapped, starts the text “The Morning Of” comes up. Then a list of the directors shows while the girl is riding her bike. Also I was able to learn how to make things fade in and fade out. My group was able to make the text in the scenes fade in for a certain amount of time and then fade out. Also with editing I was able to crop out something that was not supposed to be there. For example, when the girl stops running, to catch her breath, in the background purses and equipment could be seen. I also learned how to mute sounds from certain clips. An example would be when the girl is freeing herself from the ropes. Originally you could hear the rattling of the chair, therefore we muted it. v

Captured For the making of my group’s music video we used the Canon Rebel

Captured For the making of my group’s music video we used the Canon Rebel T 3 i. This made our video much clearer. Also to edit our music video we used the Adobe Premiere. This software allowed my group to make many needed alterations. My group was able to shorten the scenes that were too long. For example, the scene when the girl wakes up confused in the basement. It went on for about 30 seconds originally. We shortened it in order for it to go into the montage. Also with the Adobe software my group was able to darken the lighting in some scenes. We did this in order to get the feel across that we were going for. For example, all of the forest clips were darkened, in order to create a sense of mystery. v Score was added to our opening scene with Adobe software as well. We were able to put whatever music we downloaded into the scenes that we wanted it for. Also we could make certain parts of the music higher to put emphasis on something. With Adobe Premiere Pro my group was able to add text to our opening scene. This was very important because we needed to include the directors, actors, movie title, and production company. Another technology that was used in the making of my group’s opening scene were i. Phones. We used them to look up songs that would fit v perfectly with specific scenes. v
