What CAS is… • …you becoming a better person • …doing something great • …different for every student • Think about what you already do and look for ways to expand your horizons
REQUIRED CAS Project • At least 1 month in duration • Must involve, at least 2 of the CAS areas –Creativity, Activity and Service • Should include most, if not all of the CAS Outcomes
What CAS isn’t… …about just completing the hours. –If that is all that you think about, you are missing the point of CAS and you may not get approved. This will result in your not earning your IB Diploma. Some of you will ask me, “How many hours of Creativity do I need? ” If you go back through this PP you will see that there is not mention of hours.
What CAS isn’t (con’t)… …teaching Religion …working for free –Shadowing a Dr. might be CAS, going to your dad’s office and filing on the weekend is not CAS …anything for which you get paid …anything for which you get credit in class
Manage. Bac • Proposals should be a brief summary of what you are going to do. • Supervisors can not be students or parents. • Look for messages from me as I may comment or ask clarifying questions. • Supervisors will need to fill out an evaluation in order for an activity/project to be completed.
• If you have an activity/project that will extend through the summer and into next school year and the supervisor is a teacher/coach, have them write the summary before the end of school. The next school year you will make another entry for the continuation of the activity/project.
