Let’s get started!
Step 1: Go to www. weebly. com and sign up for free. You will be asked to create a username, password, and provide an e-mail address.
Step 2: You will be prompted to choose the focus for your site. For the purposes of this class, I chose the site option since we are learning to create class websites.
Step 3: You will now be prompted to choose a theme for your website. Be careful though, you could spend hours at this!
Step 4: Now to choose a domain name. This will be the URL that people will type in to get to your site so choose wisely. Also, choose the Subdomain option for a great FREE site. The only difference is it will have weebly after the domain you choose. (ex. http: //bowmatics. weebly. com)
Step 5: You may want to watch the welcome and introduction video. OR click on the Plan my site button to help become more familiar with things.
Step 6: Now it is time to begin your design! Click any of the titles already on your page in order to customize the text.
Adding elements: The tool bar on the left of your screen will be what you use to add new items to your page. Simply drag and drop what you would like to add. Then drop it onto the empty space.
Adding pages: Along the top of your page, you will find your navigation bar. You can add new pages or edit the current pages by clicking the PAGES tab at the top of the screen.
Adding pages: Once you are in the PAGES tab, you can add a new page here. You can edit the name of the page by clicking on the page you want to edit and then changing it in the Page Name bar. Make sure to hit Save & Edit when finished.
Adding pages: After you click save & edit you will be directed to the page you chose. You can see here where the name in the navigation bar is now Site Home.
Adding pages: On the PAGES tab, if you choose the Add button, you will be prompted to choose the type of page you want to add. Notice even if you chose for your site to be a standard website, you are able to add blog pages and store pages as well.
Adding pages: Now that you have added a new page, it will show up in your pages list on the left of your screen. As you type the name for your new page, it will appear in the list.
Adding pages: Click save & edit to go to your new page and add elements. Notice the new page is now in your navigation bar at the top of your site.
Publishing your site: This may be the simplest part of all! Simply click publish at the top right of your screen.
Publishing your site: You will be prompted, again, to verify or pick a domain name. Then click continue. You will not be prompted to do this each time you publish changes, just the first time you publish.
Publishing your site: A couple more things to verify the first time you publish… You will be asked to give a specific category for your site. Then click continue. Sadly you will also be asked to verify that you are human!
Publishing your site: Finally, you are published! Be sure to share your site on social networking sites to connect with a larger audience. Click on the domain name to visit your finished project, or work in progress!
Finished Product!
