• How old is the water in a cup of drinking water? • The same water gets cycled through the Earth's atmosphere and bodies of water, so the water you are drinking could be the same water the dinosaurs drank!

Cycle: a series of events that happens over and over again. Matter in an ecosystem may change form, but it never leaves the ecosystem, so the matter is said to cycle through the ecosystem.

• Where is water stored? • Make a list in your notebook of all the places water is stored:

• Water Cycle: the movement of water through the environment • As water moves through an ecosystem, it changes form, moving back and forth between gas, liquid, and solid.

• Steps of the water cycle: • Evaporation: water going from liquid to gas: lake to air • Precipitation: water falling down; cloud to ground • Condensation: water going from gas to liquid; air to clouds • Runoff: water moving through rivers and streams back into the lakes • Groundwater: water found underground

Assignment: create a water cycle foldable. This will be glued in your notebook. You will need one sheet of light blue paper. Fold it into thirds hamburger style.

Outside • Diagram the water cycle on the outside. • You will need to cut the flaps that are folded over in half.

Inside • Draw a picture of the water cycle inside the flaps.

Grade • Show me the finished product to earn your grade. • Glue the water cycle foldable into your notebook.

Walley the water molecule was spending time with friends in the pond. Before he knew it he was shaking really fast and floating up in the air. Whoa! Walley has never evaporated before! After spending what felt like forever in the air Walley started to stick together with other molecules and formed a really tiny could, condensation was the new pink.
