Create Your Own Society! • Think of 2 -3 basic rules FOR EACH of the following categories… INDIVIDUALLY, think of rules you feel are necessary for the success of a large group (several thousands!) of people living together. BE READY to defend your rules. Remember, you want to create a society where people Would like to live! 1. GOVERNMENT RULES- How are laws to be created and enforced? Who makes the laws, and who enforces them? 2. SOCIAL RULES- What roles will different people play in your society? Examples include age, gender, race, religion, level of wealth. Who has the right to be a citizen in your country, and what is the legal age of adulthood? 3. ECONOMIC RULES- How will the distribution of land, water and energy be decided? How do people buy things, and what does the government provide?

Group Activity- You will be assigned to join a group of classmates. Each Group

Each Group will be given a piece of poster paper to produce the following work… • List of all Group Members • Written description of 2 -3 Categorical Rules that you all reached through CONSENSUS (kind of like Direct Democracy). Your group will present to the class after the activity is completed.
