• When civilizations began millions of years ago, people called “nomads” had several important decisions to make 1) Where will I decide to settle? 2) Will there be enough food and water? 3) Will there be enough plant life? 4) Will there be enough animal life? 5) How many other people would we like to join our city? 6) What different jobs will these people have? 7) What will we all have in common?

• • Your task today is to create your own “civilization”. You must answer all of the following questions when creating your civilization…. . 1) What will be the name of your civilization? 2) What will be the name of your cities? (Must have at least three) 3) What will your people have in common? (Religion and government; what types of each? ) 4) What types of technology will you have? (Must have at least five) 5) Who will be working what positions? (Everyone in your group must have a job/responsibility) 6) How will you keep records of your civilization’s history? (By hand, computer, time capsule, etc. ) 7) What type of flag will represent your civilization? 8) What will be your civilization motto and song?

• In your groups, you have the entire period to create your “civilization”………. • Everyone must contribute using their assigned positions within their group 1) Group Leader 2) Recorder 3) Speaker/Presenter 4) Artist. 0 (Must draw flag) • Flags may be drawn on regular blank paper 1) 15 points of extra credit will be given to flags that are either computer-generated or done on posterboard • “Civilization” presentations will be held on Friday, August 13 th during class
