CPD evaluation Type of Strengths CPD/completio n date Weakness How it could be improved Food Safety level 3 03/04/17 Because it was level 3 it was quite in-depth and had a lot of relevant scientific food safety continent which is appropriate to my role in the food room The fact that it was an online course, meant it was quite trans missive, it was simply a knowledge transfer exercise and I have forgotten some of it. Be more kinaesthetic and involve discussion with others , instead of just a ‘tickbox’ exercise on the computer, there wasn’t an option to recap anything Preventing bullying 03/03/18 The content was all relevant and up to date as it incorporated cyber bullying which I think has affected many of the learners we work with in some way This training was quite transmissive because We were quite passive which I feel is not the best way to learn, we watched a visual power point and listened to a lecture on bullying I think if we were actively participating in some group work or role play it would have felt more meaningful, instead it was a lot of information transfer which I find difficult to concentrate and remain focused on for a long period of time. Level 2 General Data protection regulation 13/03/18 With the new GDA laws that have been introduced, it was important that we were informed of the policy’s the knowledge was factual and similar to the standards model of CPD because the regulations are nationally recognised The style of training was hard to engage with, it was transmissive not contextualised or very relevant to what I do on a daily basis therefore it was difficult to relate it to my practice. It could be more relevant to our role and administrative staff should have had the more in-depth training rather than the whole staff team having the same training, it wasn’t differentiated to suit our prior understanding on the topic
CPD evaluation Type of CPD/ completion date Strengths Weakness How it could be improved Mental wellbeing in children and young people 16/01/18 This form of CPD was engaging because it was interesting and relevant to the learners, they have social emotional mental health difficulties so it is important that we have an awareness of helping them with their emotions The group work was suitable for my kinaesthetic learning style and the psychological information was presented well and interested It was a twilight training session, so I was tiered because I had been working all day which made it hard to concentrate and engage fully with the training to develop the most professionally I think this training could have been more transformative for myself and others if a full day of training was devoted to it , people would have engaged more and which could have lead to some of the information been implemented into practice more. MAPPA Foundation programme 16/04 /18 I felt that the de-escalation techniques were very useful, I found this to be a transformative form of CPD as it was relevant to behaviour management element of my role and the learners I work with I think the ratio of MAPPA training staff to teachers wasn’t great, Multiple staff could have allowed us to be in smaller groups As the training was conducted as a whole staff team, I feel it may have been more appropriate to construct it in smaller groups so that we could discuss more specific scenarios we would like to work on.
