COVID-19 Staff Training: Attending to Staff or a Child with COVID-19 Symptoms

Symptoms • New continuous cough • High temperature • Loss of or change in sense of taste and smell • Send the symptomatic person home

Donning PPE • Perform hand hygiene • Put on your plastic apron • Put on your face mask • Put on your eye protection if there is a risk of splashing • Put on non-sterile nitrile gloves • You are now ready to attend to an adult or child with symptoms of COVID-19

Doffing PPE • Remove gloves • Perform hand hygiene using alcohol hand gel or rub, or soap and water • Snap or unfasten apron ties from the neck • Snap or unfasten waist ties and fold apron in on itself • Remove eye protection when it is safe to do so • Perform hand hygiene using alcohol hand gel or rub, or soap and water • Remove mask • Now wash your hands with soap and water

Deep clean • Door handles • Handrails • Cabinet handles • Desks • Chairs • Any areas exposed to heavy contamination
