Staff with symptoms What Symptoms • a high temperature • a new, continuous cough • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste Action • Self-isolate at home for 14 days (national guidance 7 days) • Inform all house hold contacts to self-isolate • Order a test immediately (at www. nhs. uk/coronavirus or call 119 if you have no internet access) • Even if negative local guidance is not to return to work until 7 days are up
Resident with symptoms What Symptoms • a high temperature • a new, continuous cough • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste Care home residents may only have softer signs: short of breath new onset of confusion not as alert off food, reduced fluid intake, diarrhoea / vomiting Action • Isolate the resident • Contact the health protection team immediately (0300 303 8537, option 5) • If they agree arrange testing (Commisceo Primary Care Solutions (07943 182022, mobile. covid 19@nhs. net)
What is a close contact The contacts of interest are close contacts without the use of personal protective equipment (such as a surgical mask). Examples of close contact include: close face to face contact (under 1 metre) for any length of time – including talking to someone or coughing on them being within 1 to 2 metres of someone for more than 15 minutes – including travelling in a small vehicle
