3 How is COVID-19 spread? from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. • It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms. Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. care. chatham. edu

5 COVID-19 Prevention All community members need to take small actions to keep everyone healthy. Chatham community members will be asked to: • Receive a Daily Health Screening • Wear a mask • Physically distance • Practice proactive hygiene behaviors Stay home if sick. care. chatham. edu

6 Daily Health Screening Each day you will confirm: • I DO NOT have any COVID-19 symptoms. • I HAVE NOT come in close contact with anyone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 or is displaying symptoms. • I HAVE NOT traveled internationally in the last 14 days. If you do not meet this criteria or have a temperature of 100. 4° or higher, you will be sent home. If you continue to feel sick, begin to display symptoms of COVID-19, or your condition worsens, please contact your medical provider. If you receive testing for COVID-19, please alert: EMPLOYEES — Human Resources (greco@chatham. edu) and your supervisor STUDENTS — Student Health Services (rgiles@chatham. edu) and your professors care. chatham. edu

9 Practice Proactice Hygiene Behaviors Hand Hygiene Respiratory Hygiene • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds • Cover you mouth and nose with tissues when coughing or sneezing or use the inside of your elbow • If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol • Avoid touching you face • After disposing of the tissue, wash your hands or apply hand sanitizer care. chatham. edu

10 Cleaning and Disinfection: University Protocols What is the Difference? • Cleaning removes dirt and may reduce the amount of virus present • Disinfection kills the virus and should follow cleaning for maximum effect • Specialized cleaning and disinfecting protocols for all buildings, including disinfecting high touch surfaces daily per CDC recommendations, will be followed. • Protocols for cleaning common shower/restroom areas multiple times per day are being developed. • Cleaning and sanitation stations are being set up in each classroom, on the floors of the residence halls, and in high impact spaces to encourage self-cleaning. • Dispensing containers for wipes will be placed in each programming space around campus. • Disinfectant fogger backpacks will be used along with additional CDC cleaning protocols for cleaning any campus location impacted by a positive COVID case. • A large supply of consumable supplies (wipes, disinfectants, etc. ) will be in inventory. care. chatham. edu

11 Cleaning and Disinfection: Personal Behaviors Facilities and housekeeping have increased sanitation protocols, but it takes all of us to keep each other healthy. Community members should practice the following proactive behaviors: • Wash or sanitize hands prior to entering and when leaving classrooms, residence halls, or offices • Use sanitation stations to clean work space in classrooms and offices (chair, desk, table, etc. ) before and after use • In common areas, clean and disinfect shared work surfaces before and after each use. This includes: — — Chairs Desktop and countertops Computers (keyboard, mouse, etc. ) Telephones care. chatham. edu
