FRESHMAN SELECTIONS FOR UPCOMING SOPHOMORE YEAR: Sophomore year has two selections; English 10 Regents English 10 Honors Please read course selections for prerequisites regarding overall grade point averages and teacher recommendations for each course for the best results! Remember that Honors level requires a more independent work ethic and more advanced analytic thinking, reading, and writing. Sophomore English courses, both Regents and Honors, are straight-forward preparations for the Junior year Regents exam.

SOPHOMORE SELECTIONS FOR UPCOMING JUNIOR YEAR: Junior year has three selections: English 11 Regents English 11 Honors Advanced Placement (AP) English Language The 11 Regents course is designed for an intensive preparation for the English Regents exam in June of that year. This is a great choice for a student who wishes to focus on improving his/her writing skills for this major exam. Remember that Honors level requires a more independent work ethic and more advanced analytic thinking, reading, and writing. The readings for Honors is more fiction based. AP Language primarily focuses on deep analysis of nonfiction selections for class and AP students MUST sit for the AP Exam in May of that year.

JUNIOR SELECTIONS FOR UPCOMING SENIOR YEAR FULL YEAR SELECTIONS: College English 101 & 102 (DCC college courses earning 6 credits upon successful completion of courses) Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature Contemporary American Journalism These are FULL YEAR courses that fulfill the senior year English requirements. Please carefully read the course descriptions for these courses! The AP class MUST sit for the exam in May of that year. Students may register for AP Literature regardless if they took AP English Language in junior year. Be AWARE that the cost of textbooks for the DCC College English class averages around $135 for the fall semester 101 class and $50 for the spring semester 102 class ($185 for textbooks and $175 course fee)
