INDUSTRIAL SOCIAL WORK Industrial social work can be broadly defined of a specialized field of social work practice which address the human and social needs of the work community through a variety of interventions which aim to foster optimal adopted between individual and their environment
SCOPE OF INDUSTRIAL SOCIAL WORK The industrial social work can be classified into following three categories; a) personal problems of workers b) family problems of workers c) community problems of workers
RELEVANCE OF INDUSTRIAL SOCIAL WORK The professional social workers help the workers and their families for understand their problems, motivate to face them and guide to solve them
MEANS OF SOCIAL WORK APPEARED IN INDUSTRY According to jorgensen (1970), . there have been three predominent means throught which social work has appeared in industry; a) Graduate school’s field placements b) Family service agencies c) Private counselling corportations
OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL SOCIAL WORK According to the report of the european seminaron professional social work (1960), Brussels, Belgium, it is; a) Personnel social work is used as industrial social work b) Advising the workers through individual or group to adopt to the work situation and to the work environments
c) Advising on the prevention of social problems d) Inducing the management to adopt the work situation to the social needs of the employees c) Trying to help the employees to develot their inner resources
APPLICATION OF SOCIAL WORK METHODS IN INDUSTRY There are the following three primary methods of social work can be applied in industry; a) Social case work By social case work , helps an individual worker or any family member of worker who has a problem b) Social group work By social group work, help the individual workers through group c) Community organization By community organization work, planning and developing the social services to treet the health and welfare needs of labour community

Industrial counselling can be explained as providing help and support to the employees to face and sall through the difficualt times in their worklife and personal life a. industrial counselling helps the employees to can outfrom the problems, gives a new way to deal with the problems a. Industrial counselling may also help to identify the work related problems including the poor performance in work
How social workers working with families of industrial workers The social workers may inter face between work and family as follows; Mesh between worker’s time and family time Overlap between worker and leisure activities Degree to which family reles and responsibilities intrude on work life
Adequacy of income to treet personal and family needs Degree to which work rolas treet the expectations of significant others, (e. g) children, family of origin and friends Degree to which work rolas and responsibilities intrude on family life.
Employee assistance programme(EAP) EPAs are the programmes to assist employees and their families with personal problems that interfere with the employment. EPAs are a professional assessment and referral and short term counselling services to employees with mental health and problems related to substance abuse that may be affecting their work EPAs also include managerial supervisory consultation and training and employee education.
