John Austin 2 -23 -1938 Deceased 1 -7 -2017 John P. Austin, age 78 of Corunna, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Meadows of Owosso. Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a. m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Pastor Janet Larner will be officiating with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 -8 p. m. John was born on February 23, 1938 in Corunna to the late Theodore C. and Virginia A. (Prout) Austin. He attended Corunna High School, graduating in 1957. On, May 17, 1958, John married Constance Kay Griffus in Owosso and together they raised 2 sons. Connie later passed on February 13, 2013. Before his retirement, John had owned and operated Austin Electric Motors for 45 years. He was a member of the Corunna United Methodist Church where he was an active volunteer and a member of the Men's group there as well. He was also a commissioner on the Corunna Historical Village where he gave much of his time. Mr. Austin is survived by his 2 sons: Scott (Lorrie) Austin of Linden, Roger Austin of Corunna; 2 grandchildren: Fauna (Dave) Egle and Albert Widing, III; 2 great grandchildren: Nicholas and Madelin Egle; sister, Patricia Hickmott; 2 brothers: Theodore (Carol) Austin and Robert (Sabra) Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Connie and his sister, Ellen Jensen. Beamish 2 -21 -1959 Age 78, of Owosso, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Helene was born June 23, 1939, in Owosso, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Ohms) Hevelhurst. She graduated from Corunna High School in the class of 1957. Helene married Duane A. Beamish Feb. 21, 1959, in Flint. Helene was very proud of her home and the life shared with her husband for more than 50 years. Helene will be remembered for her love of all animals and her love of her family especially her grandsons. She is survived by her husband Duane, children Michael Beamish and Teresa Beamish (Tim O’ Conner), grandsons William M. and Samuel V. Beamish, and many other loving family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shiawasssee County Humane Society or Hospice House of Shiawassee County.

Janis Ritter 7 -3 -1939 Deceased 8 -3 -2011 Russell Novotny 1957 Novotny, Janis Leigh Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, fell asleep in Jesus at her home on Aug. 3, 2011. She was born in Owosso, Mich. , on July 3, 1939, to Jack and Jane Ritter. Janis earned her bachelor's in education from Michigan State University and taught first grade in Illinois and Michigan before she and her husband, Russell, started their family. Janis and Russell made their home in Lake Bluff, Ill. , for 35 years. Janis was active as the Welcome Wagon representative in Lake Bluff/Lake Forest for 12 years. She also enjoyed a career in fashion and clothing sales. She had a keen eye for interior design and enjoyed decorating her home. Her beautiful smile was always appreciated by the new members of the community. In addition, she helped her husband, Russell, at the Lake Bluff Insurance Agency. Janis and Russell relocated to Napa in 2001 to be near their daughter Sally and her family. Janis became involved at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she served in the Women's Ministry and as a greeter and usher. One of her greatest joys was playing tennis with her friends in the Napa Valley Tennis Association, where she was known as the "sunshine on the courts. " She also volunteered at the Sonoma Developmental Center Parents' Association. Janis was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Nanie. She spent countless happy hours with her three grandsons swimming, playing tennis and enjoying card games. She was one of their greatest fans and attended all of the Napa Little League games as well as the boys' basketball and track events. Janis was full of life and brightened the world wherever she went. Her beautiful smile, love, sense of humor, zest for life and vibrant personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her garden was her pride and joy, and she treasured the times when she could pick strawberries with her grandson Charlie or take the boys on walks with her dog Laci. She is survived by her mother, Jane Ritter; her husband of 51 years, Russell Novotny; daughters, Susan Novotny and Sally Vaziri and son-inlaw, Dr. Ali Vaziri; grandsons, Cameron, Christopher and Charlie; and her sister, Sally Grigaliunas. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ari Umutyn, Deanna Shroyer, Michelle Mitchell, Pastor Mike Schmidt, Pastor Mark Heine, Pastor Robert and Julie Roth and Mary Sinclair, Robyn Marsee and all the friends and family who supported us during her brief illness. A service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 3 p. m. at St. John's Lutheran Church.
