CORPORATE GOVERNANCE WORKSTREAMS Achievements in the last 12 months Governance Risk Management Sustainability Equality & Diversity • Successfully updated the NHS Thurrock CCG Constitution with effect from July 2014 • An assessment of Board and Committee effectiveness showed good progress in developing how the CCG operates and is governed. • Successfully updated and presented the CCG Risk Registers (Board Assurance Framework) to the Board each quarter. • The Board discussed and set out their Risk Appetite (the level at which the Board are willing to accept risk). • The Board and staff received training on Risk Management. • We continued our efforts to ensure that we make the most efficient use of resources in everything we do. • We remain committed to only working with suppliers, wherever possible, who can help to reduce our carbon footprint. • Successfully carried out Equality Impact Assessments for all our policies to ensure that no group or individual is disadvantaged. • We report on and monitor statistics on our employment status and recruitment processes to ensure equality.
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE 2016/17 Future Plans NHS Thurrock CCG is committed to ensuring that our Governance arrangements continue to be robust enabling us to operate effectively and manage the risks to us achieving our corporate objectives. We are not complacent however and so will keep our arrangements under continual review to see where we could develop further, in particular we will: • Review how integrated governance is operating and ensure CCG Committees are appropriately established to facilitate good governance. • Update our Constitution so that it reflects how we operate (a year on from the previous version), is more user friendly and consider readiness for co-commissioning in the future. • Update our Risk Management Policy & Strategy to better reflect our current processes and how we want to manage risk in the future. Develop our risk management processes so that we manage risk even more effectively. • Continue to promote sustainability and look for new ways of managing our carbon footprint. Updating our Sustainable Development Plan to guide how we progress with this agenda. • Continue to follow good practice in promoting equality and diversity in how we work and update our Equality & Diversity Plans / strategies. • Work with our colleagues who provide services on our behalf such as Emergency Planning, Health & Safety, Human Resources and Information Governance etc. to ensure we continue to comply with legislation and best practice in these areas. • Develop plans and strategies aspiring towards the NHS England excellence model. This includes plans for organizational development.
