To begin with – we need some tools… Cabelcon Rotary Stripper Cable cutter Mounting tool Please read the instructions before using the tools! Rubber tool Corning Cabelcon Compression tool 2
Let’s start to work… First step is to cut your cable using a proper cable cutter. Corning Cabelcon 3
Strip your cable… Insert the cable into the cable stripper as shown… Attention: Please make sure to adjust the tool blades for your cable dimensions before using it for the first time! Please read instructions supplied with the tool. Screws for adjustment of blades Hex tool for adjustment Corning Cabelcon 4
Strip your cable… Turn the stripper clockwise 4 -5 times… Corning Cabelcon 5
Strip your cable… - and pull to remove the scraps… Corning Cabelcon 6
Strip your cable… Optional: You can check the stripping dimensions against the guide printed on the connectors 6, 5 + 6, 5 mm (¼” + ¼”) Corning Cabelcon 7
Prepare your cable… Fold exposed braid over the jacket. Leave the inner foil attached to the dielectric and make sure that the foil is undamaged and smooth. For ”Quad shield”, ”Tri shield” and ”Super shield” cables: Remove the outer braid and foil only. Fold back the inner braid. Corning Cabelcon 8
Mount the connector… Use of the Rubber Tool will ensure an excellent grip on the cable! * Press the front part of the connector (with the built-in ”tool”) against the cable and turn it slowly to prepare the foil to enter into the connector. (* Optional operation – normally not necessary if Corning Cabelcon’s Rotary Cable Stripper has been used) Corning Cabelcon 9
Mount the connector… Push the connector over the foil and allow the support mandrel to slide between the foil and braid… A mounting tool can be used to ensure a better grip on the connector… Corning Cabelcon 10
Mount the connector… Press and turn until the dielectric is flush with the support mandrel face Corning Cabelcon 11
Compress the connector… 1) Insert your connector/cable into the tool with the tool handle in open position… Click! 2) Apply a downward pressure on the cable to allow the split jaws to secure the cable… Corning Cabelcon 12
Compress the connector… Before compression After compression - and close the tool handle completely insuring the connector sleeve is fully compressed (white plastic is invisible). Corning Cabelcon 13
Take out the connector… Open the tool - press the outside split-jaw tabs and pull out the connector assembly… Corning Cabelcon 14
Compression completed The finest connection available! Corning Cabelcon 15
More tools available… Other types of tools are available. A few examples: Universal tool for RG 6/59 and RG 11 Corning Cabelcon universal CX 3 compression tools Various installation tools Please checkout our website www. cabelcon. dk for more information Corning Cabelcon 16
Finally some good advice… In order to avoid decreased network performance, we recommend the use of a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening of your connectors. 1. 2. Corning Cabelcon 17
