CORE INDICATORS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH IN ONTARIO Objectives • To standardize definitions and calculation methods for chronic disease and risk factor indicators to build capacity for chronic disease surveillance. 1. CORE INDICATORS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH IN ONTARIO Activities • Review & evaluate best practices on indicator definitions, calculation methods and data sources • Complete indicator & resource documents • Post documents on website • Liaise with organizations to improve data quality and access to data • Encourage adoption of indicator definitions and methods • Promote indicators through publications and presentations • Complete summary report
CORE INDICATORS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH IN ONTARIO Expected Results • Public health units (PHU’s) and others will use consistent, standardized definitions when conducting chronic disease and risk factor surveillance. • Information and resources that assist in generating these indicators will be readily available on website. • Increased awareness of website. • Core Indicators will be incorporated into provincial surveillance protocols and other documents.
