Core Competency 2 Apply social work ethical principles to guide professional practice.

Practice Behavior 2. 1 Recognize and manage personal values in a way that allows professional values to guide practice. I will learn to set aside my personal values in order to provide the client with the correct professional values to provide adequate services.

Practice Behavior 2. 2 Make ethical decisions by applying standards of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and, as applicable, of the International Federation of Social Workers/International Association of School of Social Work Ethics in Social Work, Statement of Principles. Make sure I adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics regarding any ethical conflicts that may come up. Communicate with my supervisor to help me problem solve.

Practice Behavior 2. 3 Tolerate ambiguity in resolving ethical conflicts. I will learn how to apply the NASW Code of Ethics to my field placement. Contact field instructor or field supervisors if I have any questions or concerns resolving ethical conflicts.

Practice Behavior 2. 4 Apply strategies of ethical reasoning to arrive at principled decisions. I will work with my supervisor to come up with different strategies in the agency to help work through difficult situations.
