Practice Behavior 1. 1 Advocate for client access to the services of social work �I am currently collecting resources for the agency because their resource list is outdated. I am taking notes every time I hear of a resource that is not on the list from listening to phone calls and conversations around me. I also plan to personally visit as many agencies in my community of Robeson County to gain a better understanding of these agencies and what services they have to offer various populations.

Practice Behavior 1. 2 Practice personal reflection and self-correction to assure continual professional development �I reflect on each encounter I have with clients, whether it be sitting in on a therapy session, an intake and assessment, and other encounters to ensure that I correct my professional behavior to make certain that I am adhering to the professional and ethical standards which are required of social workers.

Practice Behavior 1. 3 Attend to professional roles and boundaries �I seek and receive feedback from my supervisor for advice on how I am doing so that I may correct myself to stay in compliance with the NASW Code of Ethics and stay within the boundaries of a BSW intern. �I also review sections of the Code periodically depending on what situation I am in to better ensure that I am not endangering the welfare of clients in any way.

Practice Behavior 1. 4 Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior, appearance and communication � I am very careful not to conduct myself in a way that is unprofessional. I am polite, courteous, and respectful, and will continue to be even if a client becomes hostile or if another professional is not behaving as such. � I dress at my agency in a way that is consistent with that of a professional I wear slacks, long dresses or skirts, and do not wear outrageously large heels. I use a lightly scented lotion, but no perfume. I understand that it is best not to, especially since my office space is the other side of my supervisor’s desk. � I try to speak clearly-not too loud, and to think before I speak.

Practice Behavior 1. 5 Engage in career-long learning �I am currently scheduled to attend a day-long seminar with my supervisor and most of the other staff at Mt. Olive College on August 27 to learn about the new changes to the APA Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition (DSM V). I also plan to attend NA and AA meetings, and any NASW meetings as soon as I learn about them, as well as any other seminars or meetings that I may find or that my supervisor informs me of.
