Copyright • Penalty for copyrighting someone materials is a civil lawsuit file in federal district court. • Fair use allow a person to use limited portions of work including quotes, criticism, and news report.
Copyright Guidelines for using multimedia in the classroom : 1. Students may use portions of acquired copyrighted works in their academic multimedia projects, with proper credit and citations. 2. Educators may claim fair use of materials for face to face curriculum, and presentation. 3. Educators do not have to write to get permission to use multimedia in the classroom.
Copyright • Always use proper credit and citation as you use someone's materials. • The condition for using someone musical score you would need to get permission before you use the music. • Also you can use up to 10% of a copyrighted musical composition, but no more than 30 seconds.
Copyright • In order to use a film in the classroom for an education purpose you will not need permission. • If the movie is for entertainment purpose You will need to get a clearance or license for its performance.
Copyright Obtain permission to use items in the classroom. 1. Write a letter to the owner or the company. 2. Explain what you are using the material for, example Lesson or school project. 3. Ask orally to receive permission to use material. Describe what you want to do, and then document the conversation carefully.
