Who is Mrs. Faulkner-Milligan? n 28 years teaching experience. n I have taught Regular and Honors Middle School English for 18 years. n I am a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and the University of Redlands. n I have lived in Redlands since 1994. I’m originally from Monrovia.
My Goals Are… n to instill in each student an appreciation of the English language, n to teach the Common Core Standards and prepare students for the Smarter Balanced Exam, n to help students comprehend different types of text, AND to teach students how to synthesize information by comparing texts AND to teach students how to write about their thinking. n

Expectations and Procedures n Expectations: q q n Class starts when the bell rings Stay on task – individual and group work Ask questions Show respect Procedures: q q Vary from day to day but always involves work, respect, and learning. Students need to be prepared for class each day. Students need paper, a pencil, a correcting pen, their binder, completed work, and a reading book daily.
Managing Student Work q q q Homework/Classwork is given on Monday for the entire week. Assignments are posted on Google Classroom each Monday. q q Late work will not be accepted. q q However, students will be given 4 passes for late work each semester (good for turning in late work one day late only). Absent Work – student have as many days as they are absent plus one to make up work/take tests. Grades updated on Parent Portal every 1 -2 weeks. Citizenship grade based on participation as well as behavior.

Google Classroom n n n Students have log-in information to Google Classroom Assignments with links to handouts will be posted in Announcements/Assignments section Selections Tests will be given on GC Performance Task and Writing assignments will be turned in using Google Classroom Ask your student about it! Have them show you how they log in.
