Our process today: Using all the ingredients Prep the plate Set the table 3
Hello! This is Juleah! She’s here because I stole the ideas from her. 4
1. CHOPPED Using all the ingredients
Welcome to the Chopped Kitchen! ✗ ✗ ✗ Create an entrée Use all of the ingredients Ten minutes Be as creative as you dare! 6
What’s the point? At the start of your process, you’ll have lots of ideas on the table. You’ll need to have realistic conversations about which ones to “chop. ” 7
Take it to students: ✗ ✗ ✗ Be realistically ambitious Think about our bigger goal How can we make the best “dish” with the “ingredients” we’re given 8
2. My Plate Prep the plate
My Plate ✗ ✗ Fill in your plate Remember your proportions Think about everything that gets your attention 10
What’s the point? Part of planning for your chapter is planning for yourself and being transparent about how you allocate your time and priorities. 11
Take it to students: ✗ ✗ ✗ What’s important to you? What can you commit? What are our goals for the year? 12
3. Setting the Table Let’s talk calendar
The Wall of When ✗ ✗ One activity per sticky note As many activities as you want Advisor note: put any “non-chapter” (CDEs, Conventions, Camps/Conferences) or non-negotiable (chapter meetings) activities on the wall in advance of this activity 14
What’s the point? Seeing the year in terms of who is available and how much might fall in that month allows us to prioritize what we want to do well and what we don’t want to do at all. 15
Take it to students: ✗ ✗ ✗ What times of the year is your plate full? How can we plan for “capacity? ” How do our activities align with our goals? 16
What about the POA? That’s another workshop! 17
