JIWRF Bar Screens • Vertical bars mounted to stationary frame • Chain-driven rake beams travel vertically along face of bar screen to remove screenings • Rakes carry screenings out of wastewater • Screenings further dewatered then hauled to landfill 5

Bar Screen Repair/Replacement • #3 and #5 have been repaired and back in service. • #6 remains out of service. • Restored JIWRF capacity to 330 MGD, but no redundancy. 10
Bar Screen Repair/Replacement • Huber inspected all other bar screens. • Identified need to replace multiple parts on screens #1, #2, #4, #7, #8. • Previously identified need to replace entire screen #6. • Staff concurs with recommendations. 11
Recommended Process to Repair • Long lead time for parts • Contract now to purchase parts, recognizing long lead time • Develop bid package to remove existing and install the new parts, which will be supplied by District 12
Huber Technology • Due to nature of the equipment, only Huber parts will work. • Sole source procurement with Huber. • Parts are long lead items: 3 -4 months – Some parts up to 8 months • Staff proposes to directly procure parts now from Huber 13
Parts Procurement-Huber • Parts come from 3 different Huber mfg. plants and supply locations • Huber has requested 3 separate contracts 14
Parts Installation • Separately, prepare bid document for parts and screen replacement. • Contractor will use Huber parts supplied by District. • Publicly advertise and bid that contract • Anticipate Commission award in June or July 15
MCRR’s • Each repair or replacement is considered a Material Capital Repair or Replacement (MCRR) • 6 total MCRRs • O&M Contract addresses VWM financial responsibilities for MCRRs 16
Project Budget • Work is charged to District’s equipment replacement capital budget • Line item is currently within budget 17
