Role of community health nurse in family welfare services/ programme

The nurse ‘s nurse responsibilities may be as follows : - § Understanding – understanding the Role of community nurse problem herself is first &foremost. we as nurses need to understand our own feelings &attitudes about sex & family planning. § Knowledge about family planning – population problem, nature of family planning, methods of family planning, resources available in community.

§ Knowledge about the person – individuals needs and awareness, culture, beliefs, customs, practice. § Communication &health education. Be a good listener, indirect counseling needs to be offered, health education through various media. • She also involve community leaders to participate in the programme & through them she could carry out family planning work.

• Conducting clinics – Deciding the date &place of clinics, arranging equipment & other resources at clinics, arrangement & distribution of contraceptive. • Organizing family planning camps. Arranging family planning operations through special camps, motivating eligible couples &preparing them for the operations, assisting the doctor in operations. § Follow –up – through home visit, through clinic visit, maintaining careful record to follow up.

§ Educational functions &motivation. Encouraging small family norm, explaining the importance &necessity of family planning to individuals effectively, motivating people for family planning operations or permanent contraception.

Women empowerme nt. Definition * women empowerment refers to the increasing of The spiritual, social, political, or economic strength of women. It often involves the empowered confidence in their own capacities. *Women empowerment refers to women invest with power, especially legal power or official authority.

Empowerment of women is the sum total of : - § Having the power of making decisions for self. § Ability to think positively to bring about a change § Ability to develop new skills for group power § Adopting changes & a growth process that are self – initiated &never ending. § Having numerous option to choose from instead of no, or either.

§ Establish high level corporate leadership for gender quality. § Treat all women &men fairly at work- Principles of women’s empowerment respect &support human rights. § Ensure the health, safety, & well being Of all women &men workers. § Provide education , training &professional Development for women. § Measure &publicly Report on progress To achieve gender Equality.
