What are Context Clues? ▪ Context Clues are hints that the author gives to

What are Context Clues? ▪ Context Clues are hints that the author gives to help the reader figure out difficult or unusual words. ▪ Authors often use punctuation clues to help the reader. Punctuation clues might include commas, dashes, or parentheses. ▪ Context Clues can also be hints that the author gives with the actions of their characters or what a character says that will let the reader infer what might happen next. ▪ Context Clues can also be seen in movies. For example, the scary music starts playing when something is about to pop out and scare the character, along with the audience.

Definition ▪ Sometimes a word's or phrase's meaning is explained immediately after its use.
