What is contemporary dinnerware? Contemporary dinnerware, or artist-made tableware, takes the premise of functional

What is contemporary dinnerware? Contemporary dinnerware, or artist-made tableware, takes the premise of functional objects and infuses them with design, new shapes, and concepts or themes. Contemporary dinnerware is different from commercial tableware because it strays from traditional shapes and doesn’t have to be functional.

What will you be making? Everyone will start by making 3 cups. These cups

What will you be making? Everyone will start by making 3 cups. These cups should all be different! If you lined them up side by side they should have no relation to each other. You should experiment with a variety of construction methods, designs, decorative forms, textures, and/or themes.

You will continue to make one bowl and one plate that reflects the same design, construction, and theme as the cup. The strongest cup will be picked in consideration to its design, creativity, and craftsmanship of construction.
