Design Elements and materials Materials are not limited by what is available locally, they include: High Strength concrete, steel, glass, aluminum (and other unusual building metals added for effect), high durability glass, and tubing, such as the one used in the Twin Towers These buildings tend to be designed in an abstract, sculptural way, they tend to be asymmetrical, sleek, and not in a traditional tower or building shape. Postmodernism Vs. Contemporary Due to the fact that contemporary architecture isn’t an architectural movement, it doesn’t have a standard set of elements that differentiate it from postmodernism and it often is considered postmodern architecture, an example of this would be the world trade center, its elements aren’t necessarily new or innovative or stand out.
