Consultant Workshop Preventative Maintenance & Service
Preventative Maintenance and Service Why do it? • Longer machine life • Less catastrophic, expensive repairs • Optimized operation – Full ice production capacity – Minimized energy consumption • Proper PM results in a 10 -12% ROI
Preventative Maintenance and Service Improperly installing an ice machine is sure to lead to many service problems later. • Check manufacturers’ specifications • Check that the unit is level, front to back and side to side • Check for proper sizing and routing of water and drain lines, and adequate water flow • Check for adequate electrical power supply according to the nameplate
Preventative Maintenance and Service • Allow for proper air flow around the equipment and maintain proper ambient conditions – Front and Side air intake kits • Always follow manufacturers’ recommended start and check procedures • Complete the warranty registration procedures • Go over unit operation and recommend maintenance procedures with the customer.
Maintenance Schedule • A minimum of two times per year • More often if mineral scale builds up rapidly • Plan to: – De-scale water system – Sanitize water system and storage area – Clean air filter and / or condenser • Greasy, dusty environments require more frequent air filter cleaning
Remote Condenser Coil • Clean dirt from coil fins – Switch unit off – Spray on coil cleaner – Rinse off • Straighten fins with fin comb
Maintenance Schedule • Refrigeration – Leak in lines – Bad installation • Line sets run properly • Electrical – Check components – Proper voltage • Water – Most frequent cause of unit failure
