WHAT IS CONSTRUCTIONISM Constructionism is a constructivist learning theory and is a theory for instruction. It states that building knowledge occurs best through building that are tangible and sharable. According to the Constructionism theory, learners learn effectively through making things. It supports learner-centred method of learning It involves technology most of the time
GURUS OF THEORY JEAN PIAGET SEYMOUR PAPERT Jean Piaget developed theory of Constructivism. Seymour Papert developed theory of Constructionism Believed that children learn by doing and that they create their own learning experiences Papert believed that when technology is integrated with traditional constructivist activities, children create for themselves new experiences and new ways of thinking.
FOUR BASIC CONCEPTS OF CONSTRUCTIONISM Learning by designing within a community: children learn best when they initiate and design projects that are meaningful to themselves and their community. Technological tools for learning: when technology is integrated into traditional early childhood, children engage in collaborative and team work. Powerful ideas and wonderful ideas: the power of technology in education lies in the potential to assist children to encounter powerful ideas. Learning about, learning with technology: they develop character traits that will enable them to use technology safely and responsibly to communicate and connect with others.
