Introduction • Purpose: – The power constrain should be considered, when the performance of DL dedicated pilot pattern is evaluated. 2
Power Constraint(1) • For simulation comparison, the most important thing is that transmission power should keep the same for each DL pilot pattern. Assume average power is 1 for each sub-carrier in RB, then the average SNR(ASNR) is ( is noise power). • Assume that in one symbol of RB, the number of pilot subcarrier and data subcarrier is a and b, respectively, the power constraint is, a. PP+b. PD≤NFS (1) Where PP is pilot sub-carrier power, and PD is data sub-carrier power, NFS is the sub-carrier number of RB. 3
Power Constraint(2) l l For the symbol of RB has not pilot, then the power constraint for the data sub-carrier is, NFS PD≤NFS (2) Define pilot boosting is, R =PP/PD (3) Generally, R≥ 1. 4
Power Constraint(3) • Here is an example to show the consideration of power constraint. • Assume average power is 1 for each sub-carrier , so the power constraint for symbol #0, #5 of RB is as follows, 18 PD≤ 18 • Power constraint for symbol #1, #4 of RB is, 12 PD+3 PP≤ 18 • Power constraint for symbol #2, #3 of RB is, 14 PD+4 PP≤ 18 • To efficiently use the power and with the condition of R≥ 1, PD =18/(14+4 R),PP =18 R/(14+4 R). if R<1, PD =1, PP=R。 5

The Effect on Boosting Considering Power Constraint • As the above curve shows, pilot patterns of Intel and Samsung have the more potential to 8 boost the pilot power
