After the Mutiny at the River Beas • See map in Paul Artus p. 68 • Alexander’s fleet of 800 ships travelled down the river Indus • Nearchus (Alexander’s boyhood friend, and historian) was made admiral of the fleet • Hephaiston (on the east bank of the river Indus) & Craterus (on west bank of river) travelled by land with the armies • They were to attack all opposition along the river banks • On the day of departure, Alexander offered sacrifices to a number of gods & poured libations.
