SUBCULTURE: The Meaning of Style ØStyle in constructed through combination of clothing, music, dance, make-up. ØOutlines individual style differences of specific subcultures: reggae, punks. ØEven two unrelated things can be connected at a deep structural level. ØDifferent cultures such as white punk and black reggae are connected: they have similar styles.

Activity 1 Discuss among your groups about different forms of media and how they are culturally influenced and influencing. Can include a piece of literature, a movie, a song, etc.
Activity 2 Punk music reflected what society was going through at the time of its origin. Things went bad and Punk allowed musicians to show this through their music. Discuss how music today reflects our modern society.
