Status and role of the glider group Glider Status: • Multi-institutional Project, initiated on February 2016 Weizmann Institute, Hebrew University, Bar-Ilan University, IOLR • 4 people in the team – only 2 Pilots! • > 150 days at sea • Yearly (basic) operational budget ~50 k $ Role: Operator + Euro. Current work with gliders data and future plans Glider data management: 1. During mission Alseamar Sea. Explorer plotting tool 2. Post mission Import of scientific data into a data base. Param. conversions, Vertical/Sawtooth projection of data, Bin av. , Export to ODV generic format. 3. Future plans • Integration into the EGO initiative • Further development of DB capabilities Vs. Integration of existing glider toolboxs • Near-real time data presentation online Euro. Problems or issues identified around glider data flow and management • Real time data – availability & cost • Time & Thermal lag corrections – still not tackled • Exotic sensors validation • Long-term archiving of data • Submission of data to international DB Euro.
