Congressional District Projects New CD-1 I-25 over the South Platte River : — Replaces the I-25 bridge over the South Platte River, which is also known as the “Bronco Arch” bridge. The existing bridge was originally constructed in 1951 and is one of Colorado’s poor bridges. The $16. 4 million project will be completed in August of 2012. I-70 East Environmental Impact Statement: — Effort to identify transportation from I-25 to Tower Road. Through the EIS process, including a collaborative effort in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, a preferencehas been identified that keeps I-70 in its current alignment and widens I-70 to 8 -12 lanes and may or may not include Express Lanes. However, the PACT was unable to reach consensus on the north or south shift of the alignment between Brighton Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. As a result CDOT and FHWA anticipate we will make a decision on north or south shift based on the best available data and discussions and information provided by the PACT over the last year. As CDOT continues to evaluate the north and south shifts, tolling and prepare the Final EIS, Denver is hosting communities meetings to discuss the shifts and the issues associated with them: Estimated Cost of Northern Alignment: $1. 260 billion$1. 432 billion-Estimated Cost of Southern Alignment: $1. 328 billion- $1. 594 billion Central Park Blvd/I-70 — $47. 2 million project funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The City and County of Denver provided primary construction oversight, with cooperation and additional oversight by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The project is now open and fully operational, with minor finish up work in Spring 2012. I-25 at Alameda Avenue: This $36. 9 million project replaces the Alameda Avenue bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate an additional lane in each direction. Minor improvements will also be made to I-25 under Alameda Avenue and drainage will be improved. Expected completion in June 2012. This work is part of a larger project that will eventually improve I-25 between Logan and 6 th Avenue. I-25 over Santa Fe Drive: — This $60 million project replaces the I-25 bridges over Santa Fe Drive that are in poor condition and constructs a flyover ramp improving operations and safety for this major traffic zone. I-25 from the north end of the Broadway Viaduct to just south of Alameda Avenue will be reconstructed and realigned to help reduce the bottleneck in this area. Once complete, I-25 will have four lanes available in each direction through Denver from. C-470 to US 36. C-470 Corridor Coalition: — is a group of public and quasi-public entities (including CDOT and FHWA) that was formed out of a desire to prioritize regional concerns over congestion on C-470 from I-25 to I-70. A coordinated and collaborative process has been established to identify that will be advanced by consensus. Alternatives to date include both tolled and non-tolled options. According to the 2005 CDOT corridor study, the population in the C-470 corridor is expected to grow by 34% by 2025, to 708, 000 people, and the number of jobs will grow 44%, to 425, 000, over the same period.
