Who created it? Confucianism was developed from the teachings of Confucius lived in the years 551 -479 BC or BCE and is famous for his wise sayings like “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated”, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop” and “Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. ” His saying were so wise and famous that people started saying Confucius says followed by some kind of joke. Like, something pa always says, “man who has whole in his pocket feels cocky all day”. Confucianism originated as an “ethical sociopolitical teaching” but later developed into a metaphysical and cosmological elements in the Han Dynasty. Putting aside ethical principles Confucianism doesn’t have any specific practices. Rather it allows its followers to use the practices of their religion. It is interesting to note Confucius was a very ritual person.
When did it begin? /Where did it all start? /Why did it spread? Confucianism originated during the Spring and Autumn Period. The Spring Autumn Period was one of the two periods of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. It was during 770 -476 BCE or BC. This period began when the capital of China was moved to Luoyi in 770 BC or BCE and was named after the Spring Autumn Annals by Confucius was born around 552 BC or BCE in the small state of Lu. Confucius started in China. Confucianism spread all over China and neighbouring countries such as Vietnam and Korea because mainly of the popularity of Confucius. It was spread more forcibly into Japan.
What do they believe? /How do they practice their beliefs? Confucianism teaches a moral code based on the teachings of Confucius which were based on ethics, humanity and love. The golden rule to Confucianism is “Fellow-feeling. Do not do to other people what you do not want them to do to you. ” A follower of Confucianism aspires to become a sage which is a morally noble person who understands what is right and behaves accordingly. They believe "Respond to it with peace and order, and good fortune will result. Respond to it with disorder, and disaster will follow. “ Confucius taught, "The truly good man first practices what he preaches and then preaches what he practices. “ Confucianism that this teaching is relevant any time. Before we challenge someone to change their actions we first should change our own. Confucius taught that humanity exists in an inter-relationship between heaven and earth. ‘Heaven’ is the guiding force and ‘earth’ is the natural context. Humanity has the moral task to work in balance between both. Underlying and unifying the triad of heaven, earth and humanity is qi. Qi is the material life force of the universe which runs through all things. Confucianism does not deny or slight heaven.
