Idea 1: Scenario Two siblings are sitting on a sofa, playing Mario Kart together.

Idea 1: Scenario Two siblings are sitting on a sofa, playing Mario Kart together. The brother is older and is doing better than the sister, who isn’t as good at the game and hasn’t come first in a single race. We can hear an internal monologue of the brother considering whether he should give up his spot in first in order to let the sister win one race. Possibly, it could end with the brother giving up his spot but neither of them winning anyway.

Idea 1: Production Requirements ■ Location – For this project either my mum’s or my dad’s house could work, I would need to test which one works better. ■ Props – Controllers for the console we’ll be using (most likely the Wii U). ■ Equipment – Camera, desktop microphone, tripod. ■ Crew – Two actors, a person to do the slate. ■ Music – Either none or fairly upbeat.

Idea 1: Skills Requirements ■ Knowledge of shot composition. ■ Making sure it’s clear

Idea 1: Skills Requirements ■ Knowledge of shot composition. ■ Making sure it’s clear that the internal monologue is the brother’s. ■ Deciding whether music would fit, and, if so, finding appropriate music. ■ Either recording some of the sounds from the game or inserting them in afterwards. ■ Effectively recording dialogue; monologue and possibly between characters.

Idea 1: Target Audience This project is going to have a more comedic tone, therefore appealing to those who enjoy the genre. I’ve decided to make this tonal change from my ideas for the Hello Project, as I noticed that my actors and method of recording/directing are better suited to more light-hearted projects. I also believe that those with younger siblings will be able to relate to this project.

Idea 1: Areas of Research One of the first things I will have to

Idea 1: Areas of Research One of the first things I will have to research is checking which of the two houses I have available would be better suited for this project. Most of the shots would probably have the characters on the sofa, so I would have to make sure there’s enough room for a tripod. Since the majority of the project would revolve around the characters sitting on the sofa, I would also have to see what different shots I could get so that I don’t just have one, long and dull shot.

Idea 1: Contextualisation As stated before, I have significantly changed the tone of my ideas as I believe that a more comedic/light-hearted project would turn out better. I wasn’t satisfied with how my Hello Project turned out, and I believe a large part of it was the initial idea being something my actors weren’t suited to. Similarly to my idea for the Hello Project, however, this one also comes mainly from personal experience. Being the eldest of four, I’ve found myself in situations where I was asked by parents to let a younger sibling win a game.

Idea 2: Scenario The scene starts with the brother saying that the mum will be home late, and therefore he has to cook for today. Cuts to him in the kitchen deciding what to make; he decides on porridge/oats. Cut to a montage of brother making oats. He serves the oats to his sister, who eats one spoonful before we hear an internal monologue saying how much she doesn’t like them and is conflicted on whether to tell him or not. He asks how they are, and she looks slightly panicked. She begins to respond but the screen cuts to black before we hear her answer.

Idea 2: Production Requirements ■ Location – Once again, either my mum’s or my dad’s house could work for this. ■ Props – Phone, pot, oats, bowl, milk, any other ingredients (will discuss with actor) ■ Equipment – Camera, desktop microphone, lapel microphone, audio recorder, tripod. ■ Crew – Two actors, person to do the slate. ■ Music – Upbeat, probably loudest during montage.

Idea 2: Skills Requirements ■ Considering the space available, especially in the kitchen as both of my parents have small kitchens. ■ Monitoring audio levels when recording the brother at the start. ■ Making sure it’s clear that the internal monologue is the sister’s. ■ Choosing appropriate music. ■ Making the montage short and effective so that the time limit isn’t exceeded.

Idea 2: Target Audience As with my other idea, this idea is more light-hearted

Idea 2: Target Audience As with my other idea, this idea is more light-hearted than those for my Hello Project. The target audience is those who enjoy content like this, as well as those who can relate to the situation of not wanting to hurt someone’s feelings with the truth (which is most people, during at least one point in their life).

Idea 2: Areas of Research Similarly to my first idea, I will first have

Idea 2: Areas of Research Similarly to my first idea, I will first have to see which house is better suited for the project. Both have small kitchens, so I will practice setting up in each one to see if either of them are slightly easier or more convenient. I may also have to practice editing together a short montage with some test footage, as that’s something I haven’t done before and so am not confident on.

Idea 2: Contextualisation I feel like this idea is the one that’s least related

Idea 2: Contextualisation I feel like this idea is the one that’s least related to just my own experiences, and is instead something that most people experience (myself included). I feel that more people will be able to identify with this project that way.
