Modern India
Indian Economy o o o Mixed economy – use of private capital & public funds to develop industry, mining farming Series of 5 year plans focused on agricultural development. Major industry is still textiles and tea.
Green Revolution o o In the 20 th century, Technologies were developed improving agriculture, New chemical fertilizers & pesticides were created to increase food production, New varieties of grains and livestock were developed too. Also, better irrigation systems, new machinery to handle larger production. Has had only limited success due to the high costs to small farmers.
