Conditional 0 l Situations that are always true if something happens. Present factual conditional. If + present simple, present simple/modal verb/imperative Example If I am late, my father takes me to school. Water boils If you heat it to 100 degrees celsius. CONDITIONAL 1 l Often called the "real" conditional because it is used for real - or possible – situations in the future. CONDITIONAL 2 Often called the "unreal" conditional because it is used for unreal - impossible or improbable - situations. This conditional provides an imaginary result for a given situation. Form: l If + past simple , would + verb EXAMPLES If he studied more, he would pass the exam. If they had more money, they would buy a new house They would buy a new house if they had more money OR

CONDITIONAL 3 l Often referred to as the "past" conditional because it concerns only past situations with hypothetical results. Form: If + past perfect , would have + verb past participle (HAD + PP) EXAMPLES If he had known that, he would have decided differently. If Alice had won the competition, life would have changed .
