Concrete Maturity Calibration Training How to do maturity

Concrete Maturity Calibration Training

How to do maturity calibration? 5 easy steps ! • • • Step 1: Cast cylinders (15 for strength, 2 for temperature) Step 2: Moist cure cylinders Step 3: Break cylinders for strength Step 4: Calculate maturity (with Smart. Rock sensors) Step 5: Develop calibration curve 2

STEP 1 – Cast 17 cylinders Strength 1. 2. Set 1 Set 2 Set 3 Set 4 3. Cast a minimum of 15 cylinders for strength. 3 cylinders for each test age. A minimum of 5 test ages. Break two at each test age and record the average. If the induvial cylinder strengths are more than 10% from the average, break the third cylinder and take the average of all three. Select test ages for strength breaks Set 5 Temperature 1. Cast two cylinders for temperature monitoring. These temperature values will be calculated into maturity via the app. Activate and install sensor in each cylinder 3

STEP 2 – Moist Cure All Specimens Set 1 Set 2 Set 3 Set 4 Set 5 Moist Cure 4

STEP 3 – Break Cylinders Set 1 Set 2 Set 3 Set 4 Break Cylinders Compressive Strength Set 5 Day 1 Average Strength (MPa) (from cylinder compression test) 5. 7 Day 2 10. 2 Day 3 15. 7 Day 5 19. 0 Day 7 21. 4 Time Age Record Results 5

Maturity Index STEP 4 – Calculate Maturity (in app) Maturity Index Age 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Set pouring time for each sensor Assign mix to sensors so that app can calculate maturity. Ensure the assigned mix has the correct datum temperature Download data from sensors Extract and average maturity values for test age Record results Time Maturity (ºC-hrs) (from app data) Day 1 690 Day 2 1220 Day 3 1708 Day 5 3221 Day 7 4531 6
