Definitions of “Strategies” • Explicit – the steps cued by CONCEPT in the Concept Mastery Routine • Embedded – the use of the Self-Questioning Strategy to help students identify characteristics • Emerging – the development of a new strategy that arises after repeated use of a routine (e. g. , the definition strategy in the Concept Mastery Routine (Steps 1+2+4=7).
