The Co-op Option In 3 rd and 4 th year, students alternate between academic terms and work terms. By graduation, students have 12 months of work experience with as many as three different employers.

Registration for upcoming year • Make it a priority to register for courses in July, otherwise you might be disappointed • You are required to be a full time student, minimum of 3 courses every term while in the Co-op program • Important courses for Fall: COMP 3380 and 3370 • Register for winter term as well, if you are accepted in to Co-op and secure a position, we will have you removed from courses and registered in the work term

James worked on a virtual reality welding simulator for the government, learning how to integrate the Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra into the Unity 3 D environment the artists had created
Co-op Software Developers at Versatile helped to build the control systems that operate their tractors. Including: engine, brakes, lights, steering, and hydraulics. The students drove tractors to test their work!
Joel made it possible to use an i. Pad to control a $100 k robot!

Youth lacking industry experience, however, will find it difficult to secure gainful employment. ”
Eligibility • Be a student in the Computer Science Major or Honours Degree Program • Have completed the majority of 2 nd year required CS courses, with not less than 54 credit hours passed • Your GPA is important, but it’s not everything. Our minimum requirement is a 2. 5 cumulative GPA • Some work, project, or volunteer experience will improve your application package

Inuktun Services Ltd. and the Human-Computer Interaction Lab here at the Uof. M have partnered on a cutting-edge research project: building touch screen interfaces for robots. On this work term you will make a multi-touch interface on a Microsoft Surface to remote control a robotic camera as shown on the right. You will be located in beautiful Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where Inuktun designs and builds their custom robots, and will work closely but remotely with a Uof. M research team.
Required Skills • Strong programming skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new languages and frameworks • Strong GPA in core CS courses such as HCI, networking and operating systems • Experience with mobile programming, such as android, i. Phone, or windows mobile development would be an asset • High enthusiasm for making cool technology!
