When Jesus sees pain, suffering, misery he becomes part of it Mark 1: 40 -45 Curing of the leper “ When he saw the leper, he was moved with compassion” Luke 7: Raising of the son of the widow of Naim “ When the Lord saw her, his heart was filled with compassion”

Our compassionate God, revealed by Jesus

Compassion: is Solidarity, Oneness It is Not a gesture of sympathy or pity to those who have failed to make it. It is a “Coming down” into human misery, pitching our tent and loving it through. It is a consciousness of being part of humanity, an awareness of the oneness of the human race. It is a participating in the pain and misery

The cross remains THE revelation of God’s unconditional, compassionate love
