Task for today Choose a poster advert from the internet. You will compare it to this TV advert: http: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=zd. Voc 8 FXhz 0 You need to take notes on each of the 6 main components of an advert. Write a good few sentences for each component as you will need to write about 80 words on this advert!

Task Two What is the purpose of each of the texts you have chosen? Is it to inform you about something? Is it to persuade you to do something? Is it to entertain you? You must give a reason for your answer by using evidence from the texts you have chosen. This evidence could be a quote from the advert or a comment on one of the components of the advert.

Task Three. What is the main ideas or information in each text? What is it trying to sell? Who is the audience? How do you know this? Give information from the texts for your answers.

Task Four Evaluation We need to Evaluate the two texts or adverts that we have chosen. This means that we need to write about how effective 2 chosen elements are on the audience. You need to decide what two of the 6 elements you want to compare and write about. For example, you could write about the slogan. Comparing the one against the other and whether or not it is more persuasive that the other and why.

Presenting your findings Now you need to present your findings in the form of an essay. An introduction which explains which texts you have read/watched The focus or topic for your presentation The main ideas/information in each text An evaluation of each text A conclusion about the topic/texts But don’t worry, this doesn’t have to be a very big essay, it only needs to be about 150 -200 words.
