Comparing & Ordering Fractions
Comparing & Ordering Fractions Essential Question: How can I compare and order fractions with like and unlike denominators? Common Core Objective/Student Friendly Terms: (4. NF. 2 & 5. NF. 1) Students will be able to compare and order sets of two, three, and four fractions with like and unlike denominators with at least 80% accuracy.
Comparing & Ordering Fractions Vocabulary: § Numerator – the “top” number in a fraction. § Denominator – the “bottom” number in a fraction. § Least Common Denominator (LCD) – a common multiple between fractions with unlike denominators. § Mixed Number – a number containing a fraction and whole number. § Improper Fraction – a fraction with a numerator that is larger than the denominator.
