Be the Playwright! In your group, choose ONE scene from To Kill a Mockingbird to turn into a play. Consider the following: • you must include dialogue for all appropriate characters • all dialogue must have punctuation to tell the actor how to say it (exclamation marks for yelling, question marks for questions, dashes for pauses) • stage directions are appropriate to tell your actors what to do (in parentheses) • your characters should have the same character traits as they do in the book (the dialogue should sound like them, but does not have to be copied word-for-word) • FOR EXAMPLE… Atticus: Heck, do you remember which side of the face Mayella’s injury happened to be on?
