Community, State, & Technical College Liaison Meeting Background ü January 2004 Governor Perry issues Executive Order requiring THECB and state institutions to work together on an Accountability System ü December 2004 First Accountability Report completed ü 2005 to 2006 Accountability System is expanded to include community colleges ü Summer 2012 Career schools and some non-Texas public 4 -year institutions are added 2

Community, State, & Technical College Liaison Meeting Basic Elements ü Small number of key accountability measures for each goal; some include demographic “detail” ü Contextual/explanatory measures for each goal provide additional information ü Institutions have the opportunity to add explanations or comments ü CB staff calculate most measures from existing reports or obtain data from the appropriate agency (for example, the LBB) ü Interactive access provides opportunity to select specific data, including longitudinal data, in Excel or HTML format 4

Community, State, & Technical College Liaison Meeting Accountability Peer Groups ü Meetings coordinated by THECB once or twice a year ü Community colleges are grouped by institution size: ü Very Large, Medium, and Small (these groups often meet together) ü In 2011 -2012, groups reviewed measures and suggested changes. In past years, charge to groups has varied (for example, past collaborative topics have included student success and value added) 10
