Misunderstanding (1) “ 405之謎” – students need to find 405 hrs to satisfy requirement”

Misunderstanding (1) “ 405之謎” – students need to find 405 hrs to satisfy requirement” • Most could be done by existing lessons (e. g. PE lessons, class teacher lessons, music sessions) • Not a ‘ECA/ additive mindset’ for 405

Misunderstanding (2): “Some schools ask community players to provide OLE programmes/ activities for all

Misunderstanding (2): “Some schools ask community players to provide OLE programmes/ activities for all of their SS students. ” • Most timetabled lessons + event days already satisfied the basic OLE requirements. • Often community partners could offer opportunities (according to normal capacity) to further enrich students. • Diversity of school-based OLE; No need to offer for the whole year group.

Misunderstanding (3): Schools lack resources to implement OLE, such as AD, CS and CRE.

Misunderstanding (3): Schools lack resources to implement OLE, such as AD, CS and CRE. • Schools attending the “OLE Clinic” and Seed Schools assert that they have many existing practices related to OLE. Many of them actually do not incur any additional expense (e. g. PE lessons, career talks, class teacher periods, assembly, etc. ). • They will continue to make good use of their existing networks with parents, alumni and the community players if necessary when organising OLE. • The OLE Activity Databank of EDB provides useful information when schools want to deploy community resources cost-effectively.

OLE/ SLP Leadership 八大誤區 http: //cd 1. edb. hkedcity. net/cd/lwl/ole_articles. asp 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 本末倒置 – time vs quality, SLP vs OLE 數量取勝 – quality vs quantity; items on SLP 崇尚功利 – extrinsic vs intrinsic; Academic vs Non-academic 捨近取遠 – cost/ manpower vs benefits; e. g. in-school CS 盲目跟風 – existing vs ideal (e. g. SLP tools) 濫竽充數 – non-prescriptive; highlight professionalism/ school characterbuilding 7. 輕視藝術 – structured learning vs activities; 8. 缺乏统籌、各自為政- distributed leadership, learning-centred leadership, connected leadership
