Family and friends • Joining: I was born into my family but I earned my friends. • Conventions: Family parties, Get together’s, fun activities, with formal and informal language depending on the person or occasion. • Genre: Texting, Letters, Cards as well as social media. • Topics: School, Gossip, relatives, friends and school work.
Utep • Joining: I first took my SAT test and applied, then I went to orientation and paid my tuition. • Conventions: Class, Private social gatherings, Football games, Student gatherings and activities with the use of formal language with professors and informal language and slang with fellow students. • Genre: Text messaging, E-mail, Blackboard, as well as social media. • Topics: School, Projects, Essay’s and school events.
Chapin Choir • Joining: I auditioned with the choir teacher Mrs. Bickley and got accepted. • Conventions: Practice, School performances, Public events, competition and fundraisers, Formal language with the teacher and informal and slang with other students. • Genre: Social media, Text messaging, Forms and E-mail. • Topics: Music, Social gatherings, Upcoming events and funding. • Exiting: I graduated from Chapin High School and left.
Chapin Theatre • Joining: I was enrolled by the school into Mr. Boswells competing theatre class. • Conventions: Theatre practice, Class, UIL competition and social gatherings informal with friends and formal with the director. • Genre: scripts, Dialogue, Texting, letters, forms and social media. • Topics: Plays, competition, Acting, costumes, sets, gossip, and upcoming events. • Exiting: I graduated from Chapin High School and left.
