Community Boards The Community Board's main role is to: • Represent and act as advocate for the interests of its community. • Consider and report on all matters referred to it by the Council, or any matter of interest to the Board. • Maintain an overview of services provided by the Council within the community. • Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Community Board Funding Community Board funding is allocated to each Community Board based on population and equity - 60% population and 40% equity (with rural adjustment for Banks Peninsula). • Strengthening Communities Fund - An annual contestable round – opens in March/April each year. Provides funding for the period of 1 September to 30 August each year. • Discretionary Response Fund - Open for applications all year – 1 July to 30 June. o Youth Development Fund - Open for applications all year – 1 July to 30 June. o Other small funding schemes - Off-the-Ground Fund, Lightbulb Moments Fund, Emergency Response Funds etc. Bryndwr Community Garden – established with Community Board funding support
