INTRODUCTION § § § SOLWEZI population stands at 2, 003, 797 (1, 002, 241 males & (1, 01, 556 females)1 Three quarters of the population live in urban areas. the district has 20 wards as at October 2009. According to CSO (2012, p. 4) the population composition by province, region and sex indicate that 49. 3 % are males and 50. 7 are females. � This CBMs findings shows that 46 % are males and 54 % are females � The CBMS mean size findings of 5 reflects in comparison with 2012 CSO population census figure of 4. 5 for Eastern Province. � 14
� Of the 50 respondents sampled and interviewed the analysis results shows that: � 26% (13 members) of the respondents are females and; 74 % (37 members) were males. 15
Of the 50 respondents interviewed: • 10 are Medical staff • 40 are patients • Of the 10 medical staff 5 were boys and 5 were girls • Of the 40 patients 32 were males and 8 were females. §. § 16
The respondents indicated that trading industries is source of employment. Main employing industry is government, followed by agriculture, trading and construction sector and lastly bricklaying as a form of self employment. � While trading and agriculture form the main form of business and self employment to raise incomes for family survival. � 17
§ 75% of the respondents indicated that recruitment an deployment of teachers in rural areas is going on very well even though 25% said that the recruitment stoppage from 2005 to 2010 affected the number of nurses in the area. There is a correlation between children's nurses ratio and the level of nurses recruitment. 18
CHALLENGES AND CONSTRAINTS � The number of healthy personnel is not good enough to match the number of patients at clinic � Drugs and equipment are not available for some diseases like heart transplant, brain operations and other special operations � The wards for patients are not enough � The nurses are sometimes very tough to patients 19
CONCLUSION I The introduction of ICT is schools is going on well but there is no equipment and qualified nurses to use ICT in the hospital. � The provision of drugs and equipment to the hospital is 50% � The number of teachers in school not adequate to meet the demand of pupils population � Malaria Case Fatality Rate among Children (below the age of 5 years) is now at 50% � 20
RECOMMENDATIONS The government should build other new hospitals to meet the demand reduce the teacher pupil ratio. � Both rural and urban infrastructure investment in education, and agriculture (markets, roads, energy, skills development for women and young men) can enhance productivity and job creation for quality jobs and incomes � Drugs and equipment should also be supplied to all hospitals to improve the treatment of patients. � 21
